Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A meaningful opportunity awaits for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students in grades 1-2 within a cross-categorical instructional program. This rewarding contract position is based at an elementary setting near Cicero, IL, where you will play a critical role in delivering individualized and inclusive education. The classroom setting serves a diverse group of learners, with a significant number of students identified with autism, requiring both expertise and compassion.

In this role, you will:

• Provide targeted instruction that meets Illinois grade-level standards while also aligning with individualized IEP goals.
• Utilize a range of tailored supports, including structured teaching, visual schedules, sensory strategies, and behavioral/social-emotional interventions.
• Collaborate with related service providers (e.g., speech/language therapy, occupational therapy) to enhance the educational experience for each student.
• Implement and track progress on specialized learning plans, adjusting approaches based on student response and data.
• Lead and mentor classroom aides, leveraging additional support staff to ensure all students’ needs are effectively addressed throughout the instructional day.
• Foster a classroom culture of acceptance, inclusion, and high expectations for all.

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification.
• Experience with cross-categorical and/or autism spectrum student populations preferred.
• Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction, IEP implementation, and behavioral intervention strategies.
• Capacity for creative problem-solving, collaboration, and compassion.
• Organizational skills for maintaining documentation and communication with team members and families.
