Accountant - Part-time

We are looking for a sharp, reliable financial professional to step in and manage our core day‑to‑day accounting functions. Schedule & Hours This position offers a unique, flexible workflow tailored to our industry's seasonal rhythm. Off‑Peak (January–August): Enjoy excellent work‑life balance with a 30-hour/4-day work week schedule Peak Season (September–December): Transition to a standard 40-hour/5-day work week during our high‑volume holiday rush Work Location: On‑site in our Carlsbad office (especially during the initial training and temp phase) to integrate seamlessly with our team on collaborative days Key Responsibilities Core Accounting: Handle all daily Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions. General Ledger: Maintain the GL, process journal entries, and prepare hard trial balances. Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure pinpoint financial accuracy. Month‑End & Year‑End Close: Manage the month‑end close process and assemble clean, robust year‑end financial packages for our external CPA's tax preparation. Payroll Verification: Review and audit internal payroll summaries, verifying the accuracy of bank statements, 401(k) deductions, and system balances (Note: Live payroll processing and HR duties are handled elsewhere). Qualifications & Experience Experience: 3+ years of progressive bookkeeping or general accounting experience in a small‑to‑midsized business environment. Software Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is a plus. Candidates with strong backgrounds in comparable ERP systems (such as NetSuite, Sage, or Macola) who are tech‑savvy and confident they can rapidly adapt are highly encouraged to apply. Core Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental accounting principles (GL, trial balances, AR/AP logic).
