Nexus Children’s Hospital – Shenandoah is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) House Supervisor to provide clinical and administrative leadership across our hospital.

This is an opportunity for a strong nursing leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable supporting patients with complex medical, rehabilitation, neurodevelopmental, and behavioral health needs . The House Supervisor serves as a key hospital leader during assigned shifts, providing clinical guidance, coordinating staffing and patient flow, responding to urgent situations, and ensuring our nursing teams have the support they need to deliver exceptional care.

What You’ll Do

As the RN House Supervisor, you will:

• Provide hospital-wide clinical and administrative leadership during assigned shifts.
• Serve as the primary nursing and administrative resource during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as applicable.
• Provide clinical oversight, guidance, and support to nursing teams across hospital units.
• Monitor patient acuity, staffing levels, and clinical needs and adjust resources as necessary.
• Coordinate patient flow, including admissions, transfers, discharges, and bed management.
• Respond to emergencies, critical incidents, changes in patient condition, and urgent staffing needs.
• Participate in clinical rounds and assist with escalation of care when necessary.
• Promote adherence to evidence-based nursing practices, specialty care protocols, and hospital policies.
• Facilitate communication between nursing, physicians, therapy, behavioral health, admissions, and other hospital departments.
• Address patient and family concerns and support timely resolution of issues.
• Promote compassionate, culturally competent, and patient-centered care.
• Conduct safety rounds and support hospital quality, regulatory, and accreditation initiatives.
• Assist with the investigation and follow-up of incidents, near misses, and patient complaints.
• Collaborate with Quality and Risk Management to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Coach, mentor, and support nursing staff in clinical decision-making and professional development.
• Assist with staffing decisions, including overtime and agency utilization, while maintaining safe patient care.
• Promote responsible stewardship of hospital resources and supplies.
• Serve as a role model for clinical excellence, accountability, professionalism, and teamwork.

What We’re Looking ForEducation

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience required.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience .
• At least 1–2 years of pediatric nursing experience , preferably within an acute care environment.
• Experience caring for patients with complex medical and/or behavioral health diagnoses strongly preferred .
• Demonstrated ability to lead nursing operations in a fast-paced, complex clinical environment.

Licensure & Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas .
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• ACLS certification as required by unit.
• PALS certification as required by unit.
• De-escalation training must be completed within 30 days of hire.
• Required certifications must remain current and in good standing throughout employment.

• Strong pediatric and acute-care nursing knowledge.
• Experience with patient flow, bed management, staffing, and resource allocation.
• Confidence responding to emergencies and changes in patient condition.
• Effective staff coaching, conflict resolution, and supervisory skills.
• Knowledge of behavioral health management, therapeutic communication, and de-escalation techniques.
• Ability to work effectively with medically and behaviorally complex patients.
• Strong communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of patient safety, infection prevention, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical technology.
