Computational Mathematician for AI Training

Role Overview
Apply computational mathematics expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through high-quality, real-world technical input. This remote contract role focuses on documenting and evaluating how AI coding agents support complex mathematical and software engineering work. Prior AI experience is not required, but strong domain expertise is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide detailed real-world examples of using Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork in computational mathematics projects.
- Document workflows in which AI coding agents support complex problem-solving, including navigating large codebases, debugging sophisticated issues, implementing end-to-end features, and making architectural changes.
- Explain project challenges, objectives, and the specific contribution of AI agents through clear written and verbal communication.
- Assess and communicate the effectiveness of different AI agent tools for ambiguous or open-ended mathematics and coding problems.
- Submit concise reports covering project complexity, problem context, and AI-supported decision-making.
- Provide feedback on the practical integration and limitations of AI tools in computational mathematics.
- Participate in remote consultations or knowledge-sharing sessions as needed.
Qualifications
- Current STEM professional with hands-on computational mathematics experience.
- Proficiency in Python and AI-driven coding workflows.
- Experience using Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork to generate and refine actionable code sequences, rather than solely for chat-based tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems, debug advanced codebases, make architectural modifications, or work through large and ambiguous problem sets.
- Strong technical documentation, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work remotely, manage deliverables independently, and reflect critically on the value and boundaries of AI-agent use.
- Interest in advancing practical AI adoption within computational mathematics.
