Payroll Specialist

Payroll SpecialistWe're looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to join a growing professional services organization and play a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time across multiple states. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now, a strong understanding of multi-state payroll compliance, and prior experience supporting architecture, engineering, construction (AEC), or other professional services organizations.Responsibilities:Process and audit employee timesheets, including manual entry into ADP Workforce Now, ensuring compliance with company policies, union agreements (if applicable), and Federal, State, and Local labor laws.Administer full-cycle payroll for multi-state operations, including weekly payroll processing, reporting, reconciliations, and audits for accuracy and compliance.Maintain and update employee payroll records, including applying updates regarding new hires, terminations, leave of absence, compensation changes, tax withholdings, direct deposit details, and benefit deductions.Review and process employee expense reports and reimbursements, including manual checks and ACH payments.Process employee paid time off (PTO), benefit time, and time-off requests in accordance with company policy.Support administration of the Company's 401(k) plan, including employee changes, compliance reporting, and recordkeeping.Assist with internal and external audits, including certified payroll or project-related reporting if applicable.Perform other payroll, accounting, and administrative duties as needed to support business operations.Additional Skills & Qualifications:Associate's degree or higher in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now is requiredStrong knowledge of FLSA, payroll tax regulations, and wage compliance requirements.Experience processing payroll for 500+ employees and/or multiple payroll cycles preferred.AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) or professional services industry experience strongly preferred, including familiarity with project-based labor tracking, billable hours, or prevailing wage environments.Job Type & Location:This is a Permanent position based out of Woodbury, NY.Pay and Benefits:The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $95000.00/yr.Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision and 401kWorkplace Type:This is a hybrid position in Woodbury,NY.Application Deadline:This position is anticipated to close on Aug 20, 2026.About Actalent:Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
