Medical-Surgical Nurse
We are seeking a dedicated Medical-Surgical Nurse to join our team in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position involves providing care to adult patients with various medical conditions, including stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, and pneumonia.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Medical-Surgical
- Number of Beds: 64
- Common Diagnoses: Stroke, Altered mental status, Renal and dialysis issues, COPD, CHF, Pneumonia, Isolation cases, General medical-surgical cases
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with diverse medical needs.
- Utilize specialty equipment, including IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Monitor and document patient progress and respond to any changes in condition.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical-surgical nursing, with a focus on stroke stepdown care.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in New York, with all active RN licenses verified via NURSYS report.
- Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications are required; NIHSS can be obtained prior to the start date.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), specifically EPIC.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Work Schedule
This position requires working 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Please note that floating to other units may be required as needed.
Dress Code
Scrub color will be navy blue.

This role is located in the New York, NY area.
