Quality Inspector

Location Texas – Project-Based / Travel Required Employment Type Contract Reports To Senior Quality Inspector Position Overview We are seeking a QA/QC Field Inspector to support the construction of large-scale solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage projects. This position will be responsible for monitoring field activities, confirming that work is completed in accordance with approved drawings and specifications, and identifying quality issues before they impact project milestones. The inspector will work closely with site management, EPC contractors, subcontractors, and the project quality team to verify installation quality, document deficiencies, follow up on corrective actions, and maintain accurate project records. The position reports to the Senior Quality Inspector and operates primarily in an active construction environment. Key Responsibilities Field Quality Inspection Perform routine and daily field inspections across civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical scopes. Evaluate installed work against approved construction documents, specifications, applicable codes, and equipment manufacturer requirements. Inspect installation of PV modules, trackers, racking, inverters, transformers, battery storage equipment, and associated electrical systems. Identify workmanship concerns, incomplete work, and deviations from approved requirements. Record deficiencies and non-conforming work and assist site teams in establishing appropriate corrective actions. Conduct follow-up inspections to confirm that identified issues have been properly resolved. Prepare inspection findings, field reports, punch-list items, and supporting photographic documentation. Quality Planning & Compliance Review drawings, specifications, equipment documentation, and project quality requirements prior to inspections. Assist in establishing inspection priorities and field verification procedures. Participate in pre-construction and quality meetings to understand project expectations and inspection requirements. Confirm that construction activities align with applicable industry standards and electrical codes, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and IEC requirements. Help promote a quality-focused site culture by communicating issues professionally and working collaboratively with contractors and project personnel. Testing & Project Closeout Observe and document testing activities associated with electrical and energy systems. Verify applicable testing related to grounding, insulation resistance, equipment performance, and other project-specific requirements. Assist with tracking outstanding punch-list items through mechanical completion, substantial completion, and commercial operation. Review testing documentation and help confirm that required acceptance criteria have been satisfied. Support final quality documentation and project turnover activities. Documentation & Reporting Maintain organized inspection records, daily quality logs, photographs, checklists, and field reports. Review contractor-submitted QC documentation for completeness and consistency with project requirements. Assist with reviewing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), material documentation, certifications, delivery records, and installation records. Communicate significant quality concerns and inspection findings to the Senior Quality Inspector and project management. Provide routine and ad-hoc reporting as requested. Site Coordination & Safety Coordinate inspections, witness points, hold points, and other quality activities with EPC contractors and subcontractors. Participate in project quality, coordination, and construction progress meetings when required. Comply with all site-specific safety policies, PPE requirements, and applicable regulations. Immediately communicate unsafe conditions or practices identified during field activities. Maintain a professional and cooperative working relationship with contractors, vendors, and project personnel. Additional Responsibilities Perform other quality-related assignments and project reporting duties as needed. No direct supervisory responsibilities are anticipated for this position. Required Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Approximately 3-5 years of experience in QA/QC, construction quality, electrical construction, industrial construction, or a related field. Experience supporting utility-scale solar PV or battery energy storage construction Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, specifications, and installation requirements. Authorized to work in the United States. Valid driver's license required. Technical Skills OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 certification preferred. Familiarity with applicable construction and electrical standards, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC, UL, ASTM, and ISO. Experience working with project management or quality-control platforms such as Procore is preferred. Familiarity with utility-scale photovoltaic systems and battery energy storage equipment. Additional industry credentials such as NABCEP, AWS, or ICC certifications are advantageous. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Professional approach when communicating quality concerns with contractors and project teams. Primarily field-based at active utility-scale construction sites. Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, construction equipment, electrical systems, and changing site environments. Travel throughout Texas is required based on project assignment. Schedule may include extended workdays, weekends, or adjusted hours during critical construction, testing, and commissioning activities. All required PPE and site safety procedures must be followed.
