UHS provides comprehensive medical, mental health, insurance, and health promotion services to all Berkeley students, and a variety of health programs for faculty and staff. In addition, UHS encourages and expands wellness opportunities at multiple levels of campus policy, infrastructure, institutional practices, and individual choice. Position Summary The Health Educator 3 supports, plans, and administers health promotion initiatives for UC Berkeley students with a special emphasis on sexual violence prevention. Responsibilities Provide Sexual Violence Prevention: In collaboration with the Sexual Violence Prevention team, develop, implement, and evaluate sexual violence prevention programs for undergraduate and graduate student populations based on evidence-based practices. Deliver campus-wide prevention programs through presentations, workshops, social messaging campaigns, collaborative projects, and topic related initiatives. Collaborate with campus departments including OPHD, PATH to Care, and Be Well at Work to inform campus-wide prevention initiatives, present classes and mandatory online and live training programs, and ensure consistent accurate messaging. Participate in constituency groups, collaborative initiatives, and strategic planning in order to support the coordination of other campus-wide prevention and response efforts for students and employees. Administration: Lead or support the planning of classes or trainings, including securing venues, managing invitations, marketing and outreach, arranging supplies, and coordinating student staff support. Performs complex studies to identify needs for sexual violence prevention programs and services. Gather and evaluate data relating to the delivery of prevention efforts. Provide reports regarding progress, activities, and outcomes. Supports unit accessibility and systems through implementing key administrative processes. Health Coaching & Care Navigation: Provide health coaching, care navigation support, and resource referral for topics including sexual health and wellbeing, sexual violence prevention, and power-based violence. Other duties as assigned: Support other health promotion initiatives and unit planning efforts as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of principals of public health, health promotion, and sexual violence prevention. Knowledge of behavior change strategies for a college age population. Thorough knowledge of the design and delivery of health programs to address health equity. Understanding of general wellbeing, the principles of Collective Impact, Health in all Policies, and the Okanagan Charter. Skills associated with both the development and delivery of health education programs and services to improve student self-efficacy in managing health choices and identify campus culture issues that impact student health. Effective interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client groups. Effective organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to client needs. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrate experience providing culturally-relevant services to communities that have been historically underserved. Experience speaking in front of diverse audiences and the ability to adapt materials quickly so that the audience can understand the concepts being presented. Communication skills to prepare and deliver presentations and to prepare written reports, correspondence, proposals, program assessments, email and other materials for a variety of audiences ensuring compliance with departmental and university guidelines, practices and principles. Broad knowledge of the dynamics of power, privilege, and oppression, gendered violence, sexual and intimate partner violence, and gendered violence on the college campus. Experience delivering sexual violence prevention programming in a higher education setting. Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $85.000 - $95.000. This is a 100%, full-time (40 hours per week), career position that is eligible for full UC benefits. This position is exempt and paid monthly. Other Information This is not a visa opportunity. This position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement between UAW United Auto Workers and the University of California Regents for RPSP or SSAP.
