Server-Side Developer (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Northern New Jersey (Hybrid - Onsite/Remote flexibility)

Type: Contract-to-Hire (C2H) - W2 role

Duration: 6-12 months contract, with potential conversion to Full-Time

Role Overview

We are seeking a Server-Side Developer with strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot , and working knowledge of Python to join our premier Media & Entertainment client's engineering team. The ideal candidate will have experience building scalable backend systems, APIs, and integrations that power enterprise-grade applications. This is an exciting contract-to-hire opportunity offering long-term career potential.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Java-based server-side applications and APIs .
Use Python for scripting, integrations, or data processing as needed.
Work on personalization and recommendation features within core applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD workflows.

Required Skills & Qualifications

5+ years of professional backend/server-side development experience.
Strong proficiency in Java (Core & Advanced), Spring Boot framework .
Hands-on experience with Python for backend services, scripting, or data processing.
Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems .
Experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and ORM frameworks.
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization tools (a plus).
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile methodologies .

Nice to Have

Exposure to data engineering concepts (ETL, pipelines, data workflows).
Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP .
Exposure to message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
Familiarity with personalization or recommendation engines.
