Maintenance Technician I - 1st Shift

Responsibilities Ensure the safe operation of equipment and machinery, safe use of tools, and the safety of others in the immediate area. Assist with troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems, electrical controls, electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, blowers/fans, and other equipment. Resolve equipment malfunctions by evaluating performance breakdowns, identifying root causes, repairing equipment, and taking preventive actions. Assist with installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining mechanical equipment, piping systems, and electrical controls/components in accordance with manufacturer specifications, local regulations, and company safety policies. Perform visual and basic preventive/predictive maintenance on mechanical equipment such as pumps, wrap machines, dock doors, dock locks, and dock levelers used in a warehouse environment. Coordinate with the supervisor regarding short‑term and long‑term repairs to minimize production downtime. Receive work orders, assess tools, equipment, parts, and supplies required, and ensure timely execution of all tasks. Arrive at crisis calls equipped with the necessary tools and equipment, and perform the required work. Complete all assigned work and preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner. Follow all work instructions and document records to meet OSHA, EPA, USDA, and warehouse management requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related experience/training in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing, or 4 years of direct experience in a similar environment. Working knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair is preferred. Vocational, technical diploma, or associate’s degree in maintenance or vocational school is a plus. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact productively with personnel at all levels and outside contractors. Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift, or scissor lift. Strong oral and written communication skills; able to read, write, and understand work orders, instructions, daily reports, and machine manuals. Basic computer skills and the ability to work independently. Work Environment & Physical Demands The warehouse environment includes wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and moderate to loud noise levels. Employees may need to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and regularly lift up to 50 pounds using a buddy system or lifting devices. Activities include standing, walking, using hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and speaking or hearing. Vision requirements include close, distance, and focus adjustment.
