Mechanical Technician

Job Title: Mechanical Technician Location: Coal Valley, IL 61240 Job Type: Contract (12 Months with Possible Extension) Shift: First Shift Job Summary We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Technician I to support testing and validation activities for machine and component performance. In this role, you will perform instrumented testing using established procedures to verify equipment performance against product specifications. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with tools and test equipment, and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems while collaborating with engineering teams. Key Responsibilities Set up instrumented tests, including fixtures, part modifications, instrumentation, and test configurations. Execute tests using both computer-controlled and mechanical control systems. Collect, record, and document test data using digital and analog measurement systems. Monitor test progress and ensure testing is performed according to established procedures. Collaborate with engineers and technicians to communicate test status, issues, and results. Perform test teardown, cleanup, and equipment reset after testing is complete. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Assist with troubleshooting test equipment and mechanical systems as needed. Follow all company safety policies and quality standards. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings. Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, and metalworking equipment. Basic knowledge of mechanical systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with a team. Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience. Working knowledge of refrigeration systems and components. Basic understanding of heat transfer principles. Basic knowledge of electrical systems and PLC programming.
