Paralegal

Prominent Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury law firm has an immediate opening for a Legal Assistant Paralegal with 3+ years of experience to join their team. This is an in-office position based in Detroit, Michigan.

Key Responsibilities :

* Support attorneys through all phases of litigation, including trials and appeals.

* Conduct legal research using Westlaw.

* Draft pleadings, motions and appellate documents and file them with the court.

* Manage attorneys' calendars and dockets to ensure deadlines are met.

* E-file pleadings in state and federal courts.

* Effectuate service of process in accordance with relevant Court Rules.

* Manage legal documentation and correspondence in strict confidence.

* Assist attorneys with interrogatories, discovery requests, and trial materials.

* Summarize documents and records.

* Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, etc.).

* Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes and databases.

* Review, edit and proofread documents.

* Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices.

Qualifications

* 3+ years of prior experience as a Paralegal. Prior experience with plaintiff-side litigation involving personal injury and/or medical malpractice is a plus!

* Paralegal certification from an accredited institution is preferred but not required.

* Must have prior experience e-filing pleadings in state and federal courts.

* Applicable knowledge of relevant Michigan Court Rules, motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, etc.

* Strong proficiency with MS Office and PowerPoint.

* Working knowledge of Westlaw and case management software.

* Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

* Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail.

* Works well independently and on a team.
