2nd shift CNC Machinist - Machinist 2 - Lathe Location: New Orleans, LA Job Category: Manufacturing & Production Division: Laitram Machine Shop Laitram Machine Shop, L.L.C., a division of Laitram, L.L.C., and a supplier of quality, high precision components has a position available for a Machinist Level 2 working on our 2nd shift. This individual will be involved with the machining of a variety of materials to produce parts that meet dimensional and workmanship standards per Laitram Machine Shop's Quality Management System. Laitram Machine Shop provides high-value machining and related services to the Laitram divisions and select outside customers. Job Responsibilities Load stock into CNC machine work holding devices and monitor the machining process. Perform visual and physical inspection of parts produced per Laitram Machine Shop Quality Management System. Perform accurate transactions (clock on, clock off, entering quantities, closing out operation when done, filling in appropriate paperwork). Cleans equipment used and keeps work area clean/organized. Make adjustments at the machine control to maintain or improve part quality. Perform standard machine job change over procedures. Conduct training as needed to assist in developing the skills of others. Requirements Has a high school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years previous machining experience. Experience using inspection tooling (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gages) to accurately measure part features. Blueprint reading skills. Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, working with fractions). Self‑managed individual able to work well independently or in a team environment. Flexible and responsive to changing demands. Excellent time management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills. Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift 50 pounds. Desired Qualifications Knowledge of G and M codes. Experience with manual and automated CMMs. Experience with GD&T. Experience with MasterCam programming software.
