VP Controller

Genesis Partners has been engaged on a confidential basis to lead the Corp. Controller search for a venture-backed deep tech hardware company in the Greater Los Angeles area. This is a foundational hire. You will own the accounting function end-to-end, build the team and systems from scratch, and partner directly with the C-Suite, engineering, and supply chain on cost, sourcing, and operational decisions. What you’ll own: Full accounting function: GL, month‑end close, GAAP reporting, reconciliations Vendor payments, leases, payroll, and all cash disbursement activity Financial controls, policies, and audit‑readiness Tax documentation, categorization, and filings Manufacturing variance analysis Spend analysis across capex, industrial supplies, chemicals, raw materials, and indirect categories Board, investor, and fundraising reporting Cost reduction strategy across direct and indirect categories Background: 5+ years in accounting; formal Controller or senior accounting leadership experience strongly preferred CPA required Manufacturing, engineering, or supply chain industry experience required Strong command of inventory accounting, standard costing, WIP, revenue recognition, and capex/fixed asset accounting Big 4 or Big 10 public accounting background, high‑growth or tech startup experience, and audit‑readiness all pluses Bachelor’s in accounting, finance, or business; advanced degree a plus Advanced Excel Up to $220K base + meaningful equity, 100% employer‑paid medical/dental/vision #J-18808-Ljbffr Genesis Partners - Executive Search
