Director of Development

Job Summary: The Director of Development leads the development, implementation, coordination, and expansion of CRCIs donor relations, marketing, and volunteer engagement programs, including direct mail, the monthly giving program, major and planned gifts, foundation and corporate funding, capital campaigns, and special events. This position works closely with the CEO to align all elements of the Missions fundraising and marketing functions with our Strategic Plan, meet annual revenue goals, and carry forward the vision, core values, and culture of CRCI.

Core Responsibilities:

• Leadership: Directs and manages the Development Team across fundraising, grant writing, relationship building, stewardship, events, marketing, community relations, and volunteer coordination.
• Philanthropy: Expands CRCIs fundraising culture and meets benefactor goals.
• Donor Relations: Cultivates relationships with donors, CRCIs executive team, Development Team associates, and stakeholders.
• Collaboration: Partners with the CEO and CRCI leadership to align fundraising goals and initiatives; accompanies the CEO on key donor visits.

Agreed Upon Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain CRCIs strategic plan for development and public relations.
• Develop and implement a strategic plan for volunteer and community engagement that moves individuals, groups, and corporations from volunteers to donors, including:
• Corporate and small-business relationships that involve both volunteers and fundraising.
• Community engagement for external events (mission fairs, corporate fairs, 3rd party fundraising efforts, etc.) and internal events, including holiday meals, donor dinners, volunteer dinners, and fundraising events.
• Church engagement, which involves both volunteers and fundraising.
• Develop, implement, and track programs that identify, cultivate, solicit, involve, and steward new leadership donors among individuals, churches, and foundations, and build and maintain strong, lasting donor relationships.
• Direct major-gift advancement activity including work with individuals, corporations, foundations, and churches through the Major Gifts Officer, while personally identifying, cultivating, and soliciting gifts from assigned individuals and select corporations and foundations through personal visits, calls, and written correspondence.
• Oversee the donor database so mailings go out on schedule, records are updated daily, and research supports timely field calls, including maintaining a mailing list that sustains ongoing financial support.
• Develop and implement a planned giving program, building awareness among current and prospective donors of planned-giving options and benefits.
• Capital Campaigns

a. Oversee coordination of capital campaigns with the CEO, including identifying prospects, arranging prospect meetings, and overseeing campaign-related events.

b. Prepare proposals for potential individual donors, foundations, churches, and corporations.

c. Develop campaign materials.

• Provide executive-level leadership and support to help CRCI achieve its goals.
• Complete stewardship reports for project-based giving.
• Supervise, manage, and motivate Development staff, and set the departments annual objectives, budget, and work schedule.
• Oversee CRCIs grant-writing program and ensure the Grants Committee receives accurate, up-to-date information.
  • Ensure all grant reporting is completed on schedule.

Fundraising Events

• Approve and coordinate the ministrys involvement with special fundraising projects sponsored by outside groups or individuals and oversee special fundraising and other cultivation events.
• Create the annual calendar for fundraising events.
• Work with the Fundraising Committee to execute events.
  • Track event ROI and manage event budgets.

Marketing

• Oversee the team responsible for brand recognition and promotion of CRCIs services, including its Workforce Redevelopment programs.
  • Ensure consistent marketing and branding
• Direct public relations, media relations, branding, and marketing efforts to build community awareness, understanding, and support for CRCI. Develop communication and marketing strategies that support leadership giving and ensure strong website performance.
• Establish direct mail marketing campaigns
• Donor Acquisition

Volunteer Coordination

• Communicate effectively with high-impact volunteers and community partners to sustain their engagement and support.
• Represent CRCIs needs at community functions to recruit volunteer support.
• Coordinate with program staff to strategically place volunteers in key areas of need.
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of active and assigned volunteers and their responsibilities.
• Cultivate new church and community partnerships and encourage their interaction with program staff.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: Progressively responsible leadership experience in fundraising, nonprofit advancement, or relationship management.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, strategic planning, and team management capabilities.

Christian Recovery Centers Requirements:

• Have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities that advance ministry to the sick and suffering.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of planned giving, grant writing, government relations, digital strategy, and marketing.
• Familiarity with donor CRM tools (Boomerang preferred).

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of proven success in nonprofit fundraising, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated track record of achieving significant fundraising targets and scaling revenue streams.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to inspire donors, volunteers, and staff.
• Expertise in brand management, marketing strategy, and leveraging digital tools for fundraising and engagement.
• Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, financial oversight, and strategic planning.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting/standing/kneeling, etc.
• Must be able to operate a vehicle to attend events or other related functions.

Travel Requirements:

• Ability to travel to CRCI campuses, donor meetings, and national conferences and events as needed.
