We have an exciting opportunity for a part time, Unit Clerk to join our Nursing department in Heritage Manor. The Unit Clerk will be responsible for the clerical functions in the unit and acts as a liaison. The purpose of this position is to assist the Charge Nurse or her designee in the smooth functioning of the unit. The Unit Clerk supports the unit philosophy and works collaboratively with the nursing team. Must have flexibility, personal integrity and be able to work effectively with personnel from all departments. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health.

Competencies:

• Prepares maintenance repair slips.
• Generates computerized IT and telephone work orders.
• Reads and logs refrigerator/freezer temperatures daily.
• Checks nurses kitchen (refrigerator, and cabinets).
• Maintains clean, neat and orderly work area.
• Draws conclusions and acts based on sound reasoning and within scope of job description.
• Keeps others informed and follows through until issue is resolved.
• Assembles charts for new admissions.
• Assembles paperwork necessary for readmissions, transfers, discharges, and doctor appointments.
• Sorts and delivers residents' mail.
• Types identification bracelets.
• Orders and delivers supplies for new admissions (i.e. pillow, pitcher, basin).
• Assists in the scheduling of doctor appointments, transportation.
• Monitor call bells on unit and assist when necessary.
• Assists in resident dining room, ensuring trays are delivered and meals are serves.

Schedule: 4:00pm - 8:00pm Every Other Weekend and Every Tuesday.

Education: High School diploma required.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.

Qualifications:

• Some secretarial education preferred.
• One year of secretarial experience with strong organizational and computer skills preferred.
• Healthcare experience strongly preferred.
