Job Title: General Laborer Job Description

This role involves performing a variety of manual tasks to move freight, stock, and other materials, as well as supporting general warehouse and production operations. The general laborer handles materials by hand and with equipment, prepares and packs containers, and follows work orders and instructions to ensure efficient, safe, and accurate movement and storage of goods.

• Attach identifying tags to containers or clearly mark them with identifying information to ensure accurate tracking.
• Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine work assignments, material requirements, and equipment needs.
• Record the number of units handled and moved using daily production sheets or work tickets to maintain accurate inventory and production records.
• Move freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage areas, production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, and containers by hand or using trucks, tractors, and other equipment.
• Sort cargo before loading and unloading to ensure proper organization and safe handling.
• Assemble product containers and crates using hand tools and precut lumber to prepare items for shipment or storage.
• Load and unload ship cargo using winches and other hoisting devices in a safe and efficient manner.
• Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers to protect materials and maintain quality standards.
• Carry needed tools and supplies from storage or trucks to work areas and return them after use to maintain an organized workspace.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions and document work accurately.
• Analytical and problem-solving ability to address issues that arise during material handling and cargo operations.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively and support coworkers in a fast-paced environment.
• High attention to detail to ensure correct tagging, documentation, packing, and handling of materials.
• Knowledge of relevant equipment used for material handling, including trucks, tractors, winches, and other hoisting devices.
• Understanding of policies, procedures, and strategies related to effective security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and facilities.
• Ability to interpret and follow work orders and oral instructions accurately.
• Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials by hand and with equipment.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years of experience in general labor, warehouse, or material handling roles.
• Comfort using hand tools and working with precut lumber to assemble crates and containers.
• Experience with inventory tracking, daily production sheets, or work tickets is beneficial.
• Familiarity with packing, crating, and repacking materials to prevent damage during storage and transport.

This position operates in a warehouse, storage, and loading dock environment that supports production, shipping, and receiving activities. You will work with and around material-handling equipment such as trucks, tractors, winches, and other hoisting devices, as well as standard hand tools for assembling crates and containers. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., providing a stable daytime shift. The work involves regular movement between storage areas, production spaces, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, and containers, and requires comfort with physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and moving materials.

This is a Contract position based out of Beloit, WI.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
