Staff Accountant

About the Job Zilka & Company About Us: Zilka & Company is a fourth-generation, family-owned bakery supply business that's been serving customers since 1923. We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to support our financial operations and contribute to our continued growth. Position Overview: The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting transactions, and supporting the leadership team with financial reporting and administrative tasks. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Responsibilities:
- Record and reconcile daily financial transactions.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Process invoices, payments, and deposits.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
- Maintain accurate general ledger records.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and summaries.
- Coordinate with external accountants and tax professionals.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- 2+ years of accounting experience.
- Proficiency with ERP Systems.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles.
- Experience with bank reconciliations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience working with small businesses or professional service firms.
- Knowledge of sales tax reporting and basic financial analysis.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) a plus.
