Speech Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP), Per Diem Weekend Shift, Acute Care Therapy

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks an experienced Speech Language Pathologist for its Acute Care Therapy department. The successful candidate will embrace the mission to extend God’s care through physical, mental, and spiritual healing. Responsibilities Perform an initial examination and evaluation to establish an impairment/diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care prior to intervention for all persons served with basic and some complex rehabilitation needs. Provide or direct and supervise the therapy intervention consistent with the results of the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care. Involve the patient/client and appropriate others in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the plan of care. Reevaluate the patient/client as necessary during an episode of care to evaluate progress or changes in status, and modify or discontinue the plan of care accordingly. Consult with appropriate disciplines to plan for discharge, ensuring achievement of goals and expected outcomes, and arrange for appropriate follow‑up or referral. Communicate, coordinate, and document all aspects of patient/client management with the care team, including examination results, diagnosis, prognosis, interventions, response to interventions, barriers to progress, and discharge/discontinuation activities. Supervise and direct the patient care activities of assigned rehabilitation aides, office assistants, and volunteers. Manage schedule to accommodate census and patient load and report any caseload management issues to management. Attend team meetings and communicate patient status effectively, using the medical record or other treating therapists as needed. Take responsibility for individual and assigned hospital performance improvement and professional development activities. Educate and consult consumers, healthcare professionals, and the public regarding the purposes and benefits of therapy. Qualifications Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program. Minimum 2years of experience (at least 1year in a relevant setting). Active Maryland License. AHA HCP CPR certification. Work Schedule Per diem position at $60/hr. Works 8hours per week, typically 8a.m.–4p.m. with 2 weekend days per month and holiday rotation. Classified as Non‑Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. COVID‑19 Vaccination All applicants are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated before employment.
