Patient Access - Orthopedic Office - Latham

Position Overview Patient Access Concierge – Outpatient Orthopedics Office, Latham, NY (Full‑time, Day Shift). This phone‑based role registers patients, schedules appointments and surgeries, verifies demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information during pre‑registration, accepts point‑of‑service payments or provides guidance for payment options, and clears patients for service delivery. Employment Details Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift (Monday–Friday) – Office hours. Location: 1182 Troy Schenectady Road, Latham, NY. Key Responsibilities Verify patient identification, demographic information, and insurance coverage. Accept point‑of‑service payments. Enter patient information accurately into the hospital information system(s). Refer patients regarding financial liability to appropriate resources. Accept medical authorization or referral forms when appropriate. Process key documents to facilitate obtaining insurance information. Provide payment estimates for out‑of‑pocket costs. Educate patients/families on the use of registration kiosks or online systems. Identify routine issues and escalating to Lead Patient Access Concierge. Qualifications High school diploma (Associate degree preferred). 1‑3 years of experience in a hospital or clinic environment, insurance company, managed care organization, or other health‑care financial services setting, performing medical claims processing, financial counseling, financial clearance, accounting, or customer service activities. Consideration may be given for commensurate customer service experience in another industry. Knowledge of insurance and governmental programs, regulations, and billing processes (Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Disability, CHAMPUS, and Supplemental Security Income Disability), managed care contracts, and coordination of benefits preferred. Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and medical record coding (ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS) preferred; basic understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Excellent verbal and written communication, data entry, and organizational skills. Superior interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and colleagues. Accuracy, attention to detail, ability to work independently, and good time‑management skills required. Self‑starter, comfortable in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented, collaborative, people‑centered environment. Compensation Pay Range: $17.25 – $23.00 per hour. Pay is based on experience. Positions are exempt under FLSA and will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. Pay may vary within the stated range based on location.
