Project Logistics Business Development Manager

We're recruiting on behalf of a major global freight forwarder whose dedicated Project Logistics division has undergone exceptional growth — expanding from 400 to 1,800 people worldwide in just two years through a series of significant acquisitions. Backed by over €1bn in investment, this is a division with serious momentum and genuine in-house capability to match. This is a rare chance to join a team that can actually execute anything you sell. The Role This is primarily a business development position — roughly 60% hunting, 40% farming — with a focus on winning large, high-value project cargo customers. EPCs are the sweet spot, alongside machinery, solar, power generation, and oil & gas accounts. The scale of work here is substantial: typical projects ranging from €1m to €10m in revenue. The preference is not to focus on smaller transactional freight — the division can handle complex, high-revenue global projects. You’ll work export oceanfreight out of Germany and cross-trade, across FCL/LCL, OOG, and heavy lift cargo. Location is flexible — Hamburg and Bremen are ideal, but candidates based further south will also be considered. A Frankfurt-based BDM is already in place, though territories aren’t split regionally; accounts are managed customer by customer. The Division — A Genuine Point of Difference What sets this team apart is the depth of in-house capability: Own global chartering desk (7–8 specialists) — no agent dependency for charter moves In‑house legal and transport engineering resources Own assets for on‑site heavy lifting — a direct result of recent group acquisitions Flat hierarchy and fast decision‑making — the German operation spans Hamburg, Frankfurt, and a recently opened Bremen office Four core verticals are already established: infrastructure, marine logistics, oil & gas, and machinery/industrial equipment. Who They’re Looking For A commercially driven BDM with solid project freight experience and a genuine understanding of the German market. You don’t need to walk in with a full book of business — but you do need a network, a clear methodology, and the ambition to target large, complex accounts. It’s offering a fixed salary up to €100k depending on your experience and existing customer relationships. Company car included.
