Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med-Surg/Tele Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in Med-Surg Ortho experience required. License: RN License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: • Minimum 2 years of experience in Med/Surg Ortho. • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills including: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and the use of rapid response/code teams. • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills with a focus on peripheral line care/management. • Respiratory skills including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management. • Knowledge of isolation precautions and use of PPE. Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional requests for time off could possibly result in cancellation. This position focuses on surgical orthopedics and joints. The average daily census is 34 with 48 rooms/beds available. The nurse will be expected to float if the census drops. Weekend shifts are required every other week. The unit primarily handles surgical patients, with occasional medical overflow. Common diagnoses include total knee replacement, total hip replacement, spinal fusions, hip fractures, orthopedic trauma, and med/surg overflow. Special equipment frequently used includes wound vacs and drains. Interdisciplinary support is provided by IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and pharmacy. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting. Scrubs are not provided; navy blue is required.
