Job Title: Buyer - Distribution Industry Location: Highway 280 - Birmingham, AL (On-site) Employment Type: Full-time Salary: $70,000-$85,000 (DOE) + bonus and benefits About the Role Vaco is partnering with a leading distribution company in Birmingham to find an experienced Buyer to join their growing procurement team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, supplier management, and inventory planning within a fast‑paced distribution environment. Key Responsibilities Manage the end-to-end purchasing process for assigned product categories. Source and negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best pricing, terms, and delivery schedules. Maintain optimal inventory levels to support sales and operations while minimizing excess stock. Analyze demand forecasts, sales trends, and lead times to inform purchasing decisions. Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships, evaluating supplier performance and reliability. Collaborate with operations, logistics, and finance teams to ensure smooth procurement processes. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the supply chain. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3-5+ years of purchasing or buying experience, preferably in a distribution or wholesale environment. Strong negotiation and analytical skills. Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Excel. Excellent communication and relationship management skills. Knowledge of procurement best practices and inventory control principles.
