Property AccountantLocation: Bergen County, NJEmployment Type: Direct HireRate: $90,000 - $105,000 / yearBenefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision and retirement plan.Essential Functions:Maintain proper accounting functions for the assigned propertiesMonitor AR and AP aging, unapplied cash, bad debt allowance, debt service ratio, cash flows and cash positions, etc.Approve accounts payable timelyWork closely with the field team to timely resolve receivable and payable issuesReview tenant ledgers in questionReview commercial lease charges, perform CAM reconciliationsAnalyze activity in capital expenditure accounts. Apply for replacement reserve according to loan agreements.Maintain proper accounting functions for mid-tier holding entities and fund entitiesManage cash flow between properties and upper tier entitiesRecord contributions and distributions properlyReconcile equity/investmentsUpdate investment management fee calculations.Follow month end closing calendarPrepare monthly centralized journal entries and supporting schedules for the assigned accounts and tasksReview bank reconciliations and timely resolve bank reconciling items.Maintain and reconcile all general ledger activitiesPrepare monthly closing work paper packages independentlyInvestigate and resolve issues through communication with operations, finance teams and outside partiesPrepare monthly reports as needed, such as investor, lenderFollow quarter end closing calendarPrepare quarterly financial reports and supplemental schedulesPrepare lender reports, and other required quarterly reports.Perform year end responsibilitiesPrepare required work papers at year end for annual auditsRespond to auditor's questionsPrepare financial statements and footnote disclosuresReview tax returns prepared by CPAs as needed.OtherApply strong working knowledge of GAAP in solving accounting issuesUnderstand the operating processes, identify areas for improvements and influence others to changeComplete ad hoc financial projects as required.Assist in training of new and existing junior staff and interns.Assist in reviewing of certain work papersQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting3-5 years accounting experience (property accounting experience preferred).Experience with Yardi is firmly required.Proficiency in Excel required, Salesforce software experience a plusDemonstrated problem solving and decision making skills.Ability to work in a fast paced environment and prioritize multiple high priority projects.Strong work ethic focused on meeting deadlines.Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
