Staff Accountant

Summary:

Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, assures that the assigned day-to-day operations of general accounting and internal reporting are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, policies, and objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares recurring and adjusting journal entries for cash, prepaid, and other account activity.
• Maintains cash schedules for weekly managerial reporting.
• Prepares analyses and supporting schedules for interim management reports, quarterly reviews, and year-end audits.
• Reports on weekly asset utilization.
• Interacts in a cooperative and knowledgeable manner with organizational team members as well as outside auditors and customers.
• Identifies opportunities and process improvements to streamline the monthly close process.
• Prepares monthly cash and prepaid account reconciliations.
• Assists in the implementation of internal control procedures to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.
• Supports the company's 10-K and 10-Q processes.
• Complete other projects as requested.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Four-year accounting degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
• Successful prior experience with strong emphasis in general or public accounting.
• Excellent understanding of accounting and auditing principles, analytical analysis, and the ability to be attentive to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with computerized accounting systems in a networked environment. Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
• Experience with Oracle or similar ERP system is preferred, but not required.
