Nutrition Assistant

Under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian and Clinical Nutrition Manager, the Nutrition Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality, personalized nutrition care to hospital patients. This patient-facing role ensures accurate meal service, adherence to diet orders, and excellent patient experience while maintaining departmental and hospital standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist patients with menu selections that align with prescribed diets and preferences
• Review and adjust meal selections based on physician, dietitian, and nursing instructions
• Ensure patients receive appropriate meals and notify care teams of any issues
• Support meal delivery, tray pass, retrieval, and tray line operations
• Conduct meal rounds, tray assessments, and track patient intake for calorie counts
• Order supplements and enteral nutrition products per department procedures
• Answer phones and assist patients, staff, and callers with requests
• Collaborate with clinical and production teams regarding patient needs and diet concerns
• Resolve patient concerns promptly to ensure a positive experience
• Maintain compliance with food service standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in department meetings, trainings, and continuous improvement efforts

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred (experience may substitute)
• Prior healthcare experience with patient interaction preferred
• Customer service experience, including phone support, preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate hospital systems
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
• Ability to push food carts and perform physical tasks as needed
• Demonstrates professionalism and commitment to service excellence (I CARE standards)

4:00pm-7:00pm Wed/Thurs/Fri with Every Other Weekend

Minimum Starting Pay: $18.26
