Backed by the stability of a company that has been in business for 119 years and is the #11th largest General Contractor in North America, this individual will be part of an exciting group that has significant growth projections.Position SummaryThe Accounting Manager provides strategic financial leadership and oversees district accounting operations, ensuring strong internal controls, reliable reporting, and effective execution of core accounting processes. This role is ideal for a proven people leader who can develop talent, drive operational excellence, and ensure accounting activities are completed in alignment with company policies, regulatory requirements, and business needs.ResponsibilitiesPeople Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop the accounting team by setting clear expectations and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and growthDelegate and coordinate activities effectively, supporting the development of team members through mentoring and guidanceOversight of Core Accounting FunctionsOversee, monitor, and be accountable for key accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and month-end/year-end closeEnsure accounting submissions and financial deliverables are completed accurately and on time; follow up on issues, problems, and discrepanciesReporting, Insights, and Business SupportDeliver timely financial reporting and provide insights that support leadership decision-making, including ad hoc analysis as neededIdentify risks, opportunities, and performance drivers, providing forward-looking analysis to help the district anticipate issues and capitalize on opportunitiesLead planning and forecasting cycles, ensuring alignment with district and corporate goalsControls, Compliance, and AuditManage the district financial cycle and working capital in accordance with company policies, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and effectivenessMaintain strong internal controls and oversee audits (internal/external as applicable), compliance activities, and required regulatory documentationOversee required documentation (e.g., insurance, bonding, SDI, workers compensation, statutory declarations, lien waivers) to ensure it is complete and maintained appropriatelyProcess & System ImprovementDrive accounting system and process improvements to enhance accuracy, scalability, and operational efficiencyQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership/supervisory experience managing an accounting function or teamStrong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial reportingConstruction or related industry experience preferredSkills & KnowledgeStrong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reportingEffective verbal and written communication, including the ability to present financial information to leadershipStrong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail and deadline disciplineERP and reporting tool proficiency; Oracle preferredThe estimated salary range for this role is $117,000 - $151,500, based on your experience and qualifications.
