Accounts Receivable Specialist - Temporary
Location: South Bend, IN | Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM | Pay Rate: $60,000-$80,000
Position Overview
A local organization is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to provide temporary support to its accounting team. This position will focus heavily on daily invoicing, cash receipts, payment reconciliation, and ensuring transactions are accurately processed and posted.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can take ownership of their responsibilities with minimal supervision and is comfortable working within a combination of manual and system-based accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and post daily customer invoices based on shipped orders and supporting documentation.
- Review invoices for accuracy and make necessary adjustments prior to posting.
- Batch and post invoices within the accounting system.
- Process daily cash receipts and reconcile payments against system activity.
- Verify deposits and ensure cash received is accurately recorded.
- Send invoices to customers and process transactions through applicable customer platforms.
- Manage varying volumes of traditional customer, retail, and e-commerce AR activity.
- Process remittance information and larger payment batches.
- Research and respond to customer AR questions primarily through email.
- Investigate shortages, payment discrepancies, and invoice-related issues.
- Coordinate with internal customer service and operational teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate AR documentation and support existing manual processes.
- Assist with additional accounts receivable projects as needed.
- Previous Accounts Receivable experience, including invoicing and cash receipts.
- Experience with Sage 100 preferred, particularly batching and posting.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP.
- Experience reconciling payments, deposits, invoices, and remittances.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
- Comfortable working with detailed, multi-step accounting processes.
- Amazon, Shopify, FBA, or other e-commerce/retail platform experience is a plus.
- Ability to learn new systems and adapt to changing processes.
- Strong written communication and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently without requiring significant oversight.
