Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

Job Details Full Time, Non-Exempt Salary: $52,364 to $60,555 annually Application Deadline: 4:00 p.m. October 12, 2026 Position Summary Under direction of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for the supervision, hands‑on leadership, support, and direction of the daily activities of a maintenance crew. Is responsible for identifying, planning, prioritizing, scheduling, coordinating, assigning and evaluating projects and personnel associated with facilities maintenance, which may include, preventative maintenance of concrete, playground repairs, roofing, railings, fabrication, tiling, and wood assets within the District utilizing a crew of skilled and semi‑skilled personnel. Performs duties in a manner consistent with the stated values of the organization. Essential Duties Supervises the daily work activities of full‑time personnel. Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff. Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations. Works with employees to correct deficiencies. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with organizational policy. Assists Facilities Maintenance Manager in supervision of a variety of maintenance projects, including painting, drywall, carpentry, tile, and installation of fixtures. Determines staffing needs, oversees the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of assigned staff, and provides backup support as needed. Reviews and approves employee bi‑weekly timesheets. Works directly with Payroll to resolve any pay issues. Administers and adheres to District policies. Assists in preparing, enforcing, maintaining, and modifying policies and procedures manuals that comply with local, state and national regulations. Conducts periodic staff meetings to provide and gather information; answers questions and responds to complaints and concerns, both internally and externally. Ensures the safety of users and keeps District liability risks at a minimum by ensuring projects are completed consistent with current safety specifications. Responsible for hands‑on oversight of facility maintenance projects, interior and exterior remodel projects, general construction work, and parks projects associated with, but not limited to, park vandalism, bench installs, shelter repairs, wood assets, fabrication, tiling and concrete. Assists in the development of project objectives, standards, and procedures; provides direction to staff, ensuring availability of tools, materials, and supplies needed to complete jobs adequately; reads and reviews construction documents; and provides advice concerning problems. Schedules and assists with managing work orders through the internal work order and Trello system to ensure facilities operate at peak levels. Work orders include, but are not limited to preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, time sensitive and annual maintenance, projects and upgrades. Assists with hiring and supervising licensed contractors including roofing consultants to perform specialty work. Reads and interprets general blueprints including topography, layout, grading, forming and framing. Exercises good judgment and proper safety precautions and practices at all times. Conducts or coordinates and documents training of personnel in techniques for safe and efficient operation of equipment, tools, machinery, and work methods. Assists Manager with developing division goals and objectives. Assists with preparing and monitoring the budget, managing revenues and expenditures, and preparing financial reports. Prepares bid documents, purchase orders, RFPs, and invoice requests; purchases, maintains and inventories materials and supplies. Works with vendors to ensure proper delivery and quality of materials and services. Prepares short and long‑range revenue/expenditure projections, checks revenue streams, etc. Develops and implements strategies to increase usage of assigned areas. Develops and maintains professional relationships with District employees, vendors, contractors, citizens, and various outside user groups. Responds tactfully, respectfully and in a timely manner to inquiries, complaints, and problems in person, through email, phone and mail by providing helpful information and explanations in‑line with District policies and procedures. Thoughtfully handles confrontational or stressful interactions. Coordinates the scheduling of maintenance activities with Manager, other District staff as necessary, and outside contractors engaged in construction/renovation projects within District facilities. Maintains and cares for assigned tools, equipment and attachments. Maintains and routinely inventories parts and materials used while performing maintenance duties. Schedules crews to maintain, repair and restore machinery, equipment and facilities. Keeps accurate records including personal timecard, daily activity reports, incident/accident reports, and inventory logs according to District procedures in a timely manner. Attends and participates in staff meetings, trainings, orientations, and meetings on safety, District projects, capital construction, etc. May be required to assume manager\'s duties and responsibilities or to assist with additional supervisory duties in manager\'s absence. Attends work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis. May be required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays; may be required to work shifts deviating from this position\'s normal workdays. May be responsible for scheduled on‑call emergency response. Assists with inspecting facilities for needed maintenance work. Inspects work performed in terms of progress, completion, and to ensure compliance of the unit\'s activities to pertinent codes, regulations and guidelines. Associate degree in Construction or a related field. Four (4) years\' related park or grounds maintenance and\/or construction experience which includes experience with basic hand and power tools, light motorized vehicles and equipment, and one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of experience, training and education that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position may be considered. Licenses, Certifications, And Other Requirements Class B Contractor License or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Must possess a valid Colorado Driver License or the ability to obtain upon hire and maintain an acceptable driving record. Necessary Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Knowledge of the principles, equipment, materials, supplies, and techniques used in the maintenance and construction of recreational facilities. Ability to operate various types of tools and equipment used in facilities maintenance including construction materials and various concrete and carpentry equipment including hand and stationary tools. Skills and ability to document daily activities, keep accurate work logs and reports, and conduct and correct jobsite hazard analysis. Ability to effectively manage and prioritize situations and goals to maximize available resources. Problem solving skills to analyze complex problems and implement appropriate corrective actions. Ability to use mathematical reasoning. Knowledge of budget planning and management. Strong leadership skills with the ability to recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and motivate employees. Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast‑paced and high‑volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. Skill and ability to use and enforce all applicable work safety rules, procedures and equipment. Ability to work productively without supervision within established policies and procedures. Ability to read and understand blueprints and instructional materials. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer. Ability to troubleshoot and assess emergency building and equipment problems and respond in a timely manner. Ability to use and apply technology. Ability to interpret and evaluate the work of staff effectively. Must be highly motivated and take direction well. Material And Equipment Used Regularly uses maintenance equipment which may include but is not limited to: various construction materials, power and hand carpentry tools, stationary power tools, pick‑up truck, pick‑up truck with trailer, dump truck and flat‑bed trucks, concrete mixer, various tractors and attachments, paints, stains and sealers. Regularly uses standard office equipment including a personal computer, phone, calculator, printer, and photo copier. This position regularly drives a District and\/or personal motor vehicle to various District facilities. Working Environment Regularly requires strenuous work in the field with exposure to a variety of weather conditions, ecosystems, and landscapes. This position has regular exposure to adverse conditions such as dust, noise, poor ventilation, mechanical hazards; and occasional exposure to fumes, odors, mists, gases, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibrations from equipment operation, equipment noise, wildlife, extreme temperatures, ultra‑violet radiation, precipitation; and may include unlit or low light night‑time activities. This position also performs work in an office environment subject to interruptions and background noises. Physical Requirements Extended periods spent performing strenuous manual labor and standing, walking, sitting. Occasional physical work lifting up to 75 pounds. Required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. May occasionally climb, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools, machinery, personal computer and equipment. Foot/eye coordination required for operating motorized equipment. Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information. Vision acuity to see close‑up and at a distance with the ability to adjust focus allowing a broad field of vision. Speech communication and hearing to maintain clear and effective communication. Must understand and be understood. Ability to hear vehicle and equipment horns, signals, and engine operation to determine proper operation. Spatial perception, auditory and visual discrimination, tactile discrimination.
