Maintenance Technician – 1st Shift

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment, facility systems, and mechanical infrastructure. This role performs preventive, predictive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations.

The Maintenance Technician uses hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, technical manuals, electrical schematics, diagrams, and manufacturer specifications to diagnose and correct equipment issues. Equipment may include motors, engines, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, packaging equipment, processing equipment, and other manufacturing machinery.

Essential Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, plumbing, welding, fabrication, and facility systems.
• Perform preventive, predictive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance on production, packaging, processing, and auxiliary equipment.
• Observe equipment operation and use sound, visual, and diagnostic indicators to identify the cause of equipment failures.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical procedures, service manuals, equipment diagrams, sketches, and work orders.
• Install, test, adjust, and commission new production and auxiliary equipment.
• Diagnose equipment problems and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Complete maintenance work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
• Document equipment service, repairs, labor hours, parts used, and other maintenance-related information.
• Operate and understand the tools and equipment required to complete assigned work.
• Communicate equipment problems, production concerns, repair status, and project updates to management and affected departments.
• Perform mathematical calculations and analyze equipment or maintenance data.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair situations as needed.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.

Safety and Quality Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality system requirements.
• Properly perform Lockout/Tagout before servicing or repairing equipment.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Report unsafe conditions, hazards, equipment concerns, and quality issues immediately.
• Complete required safety, technical, and job-related training.
• Support established safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement goals.
• Assist with identifying and implementing ideas that improve equipment reliability, safety, efficiency, and production performance.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to two years of relevant maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and work orders.
• Working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete work within established deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance, production, management, and other departments.

A relevant associate or bachelor’s degree, technical certification, or vocational training is a plus.

Physical and Work Expectations

This position requires the ability to work in a manufacturing environment and safely perform maintenance activities, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, using tools, and working around operating machinery. The employee must follow all safety requirements and be available to respond to equipment breakdowns or emergency maintenance needs.
