Lead Billing Specialist

Job Summary Lead Billing Specialist – Cox Automotive, USA. Individual Contributor, management level. Must work at a specified Cox location. Flexible work options are not available and remote work is prohibited. Work shift: Day. Compensation: Hourly base pay $24.23 – $36.35; may include commission and incentive programs. Responsibilities Prepare repair orders (RO) by detailing symptoms, problems, causes, and required repairs based on technician information and enter them into the service database. Verify technicians have selected correct VMRS code and that billing hours align with standard repair times. Create invoices from completed ROs, applying customer‑specific rates and mark‑ups. Improve RO quality by identifying weak points, editing ROs, and eliminating customer disputes while ensuring full invoicing. Coordinate with technicians and Mobile Technician Leaders to obtain necessary information for invoice processing. Create vehicle repair service estimates from information gathered from Mobile Technicians and customers. Communicate with customers via email, fax, or phone to retrieve purchase order approvals or discuss billing issues. Gather, upload, and maintain necessary paperwork in the system for records. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of experience in a related field (alternative combinations such as a higher degree with fewer years may be considered). Proficiency in Mitchell One or similar estimating systems. Strong communication skills (written, verbal, phone) and customer service experience. Proficient in MS Office, email, typing, and navigation of related software for generating estimates and processing invoices. Daily sense of urgency, action orientation, and minimal planning required. Knowledge of Standard Repair Times (SRT) for common services; service writing experience preferred. Ability to work independently and within a team; basic arithmetic skills with various units of measure. Professional, friendly demeanor with strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail; ability to remain calm with frustrated customers or technicians.
