Senior Billing Specialist

Vaco has partnered with a client in downtown Indianapolis to fill a Senior Billing Specialist position. This role supports a growing accounting team in a fast‑paced legal environment. Base pay range $80,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr Job Details Work Location: Downtown Indianapolis; hybrid schedule after first 90 days Expected hours: 38-40 hours per week Experience: 5 years of legal billing and e‑billing experience This is a direct‑hire, hybrid position based in Indianapolis with a schedule of three days in office and two days remote. Key Responsibilities Generate, review, and process client prebills in accordance with established procedures and timelines. Interpret attorney billing instructions and ensure compliance with client guidelines, fee agreements, and firm policies. Manage the accurate and timely delivery of invoices, including electronic billing submissions. Maintain billing instructions and matter details within the legal management system. Troubleshoot and resolve billing discrepancies and complex billing scenarios, including split billing and multi‑payor arrangements. Serve as a subject‑matter resource for attorneys and internal stakeholders. Provide training, mentorship, and ongoing support to billing team members. Assist with creating documentation, training materials, and process improvements. Maintain confidentiality of client and firm financial information. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of legal billing and e‑billing experience. Proven ability to lead, train, and mentor others. Advanced knowledge of e‑billing platforms, LEDES formats, and vendor requirements. Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to prioritize work in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word. Experience with legal management systems; familiarity with LMS and/or Aderant preferred.
