Adjunct, Human Sexuality

Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Department Administrator and a full‑time faculty mentor, the successful candidate will prepare and teach Human Sexuality courses as assigned by the Family and Human Studies Department. This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available. The position is paid at $1,056 per instructional unit. Adjunct positions are offered on a semester‑by‑semester basis with no guarantee of continued employment. Official transcripts are required for those hired and must be submitted within 30 days of hire. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepares and teaches Human Sexuality course material as stipulated in the course syllabi provided by the department. With the assistance of a full‑time faculty mentor, develops course calendar and weekly outlines. Supports professional commitment to the Department, School, and College mission and values. Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization. Maintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators. Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments. Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards. Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades. Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance. Informs students of progress-to-date periodically and submits grades by published deadlines. Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment. Prepares and submits incident reports to the Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy. Maintains professional and collegial behavior. Responds to student concerns/complaints and student communications promptly (generally within 1–2 days). Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure. Completes all required employee trainings. Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines. Provides ADA accommodations as requested. Other job‑related duties as needed. Communicates effectively with a broad range of diverse people, cultures, ethnic backgrounds, and abilities to maintain good working relationships across the College. Works with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities. Required Qualifications Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. All employees are expected to maintain a permanent residence within the State of Utah as a condition of employment; new employees must provide a valid Utah residential address within 30 days of their start date. Current permanent resident of the State of Utah or plans to become a permanent resident of the State of Utah if hired. Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with at least 6 semester hours of graduate‑level coursework in the topic of Human Sexuality. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching Human Sexuality courses in an institution of higher education. Availability to teach in‑person courses. Employment Conditions Adjunct faculty members are hired on a contract‑to‑contract basis with no future expectation or obligation for employment. Employment may be terminated at will at any time. All faculty will maintain an on‑site campus presence to encourage in‑person relationships unless approved for online‑only courses.
