APP Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - J4 Cardiovascular ICU - .90 FTE (Rotating - 12 hrs)

Overview Stanford's Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to manage post‑operative cardiac surgery patients in a fast‑paced, critical environment. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive care to 4‑6 post‑cardiac surgery patients per shift, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management. Perform patient care through rounding, formulating care plans, issuing orders, and adjusting protocols as necessary. Monitor patients’ progress, respond to complications, and coordinate care with surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and specialists. Perform procedures such as central and arterial line placement, bedside echocardiography, ultrasound, and cardioversion. Complete timely and accurate documentation: progress notes, procedure reports, discharge summaries; communicate status and discharge planning to the multidisciplinary team. Precept and mentor APP Fellows; supervise student learners during clinical rotations. Collaborate with attending surgeons, intensivists, nursing staff to deliver optimal patient care. Scope of Practice / Clinical Duties Manage post‑operative care, including medication administration, order entry, diagnostic testing, and procedures in accordance with institutional protocols. Education & Qualifications Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field. Graduate of a National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited NP program. Active RN license in the state of practice with an active NP license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. Experience in cardiac surgery or intensive care settings desired. Licenses & Certifications Registered Nurse (RN) licensure. Nurse Practitioner (NP) designation.
