With operations in the San Francisco Bay Area and Chicago, the company serves as a vital partner for the most innovative companies in the Americas.The MRO Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and expanding maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) opportunities across targeted accounts, with a focus on industrial manufacturing and automation customers. This role drives growth of MISUMI Americas Factory Automation product offerings by building strong relationships with key stakeholders, understanding site-level maintenance needs, and delivering a high level of customer support. The manager partners closely with internal teams to develop account strategies, support demand forecasting, and help introduce new products, services, and solutions that improve uptime and standardize procurement for customers.This role directly grows revenue and share of wallet within key manufacturing accounts, with a strong focus on working closely with the Spares team. The position partners with customer maintenance, engineering, and procurement teams to identify opportunities involving mechanical components and automation applications. An engineering background is a plus for building technical credibility, understanding customer requirements, diagnosing reliability and uptime challenges, and recommending the right MISUMI Americas solutions.What You'll Be DoingDevelop and maintain relationships with maintenance, operations, procurement, and engineering teams across assigned accountsIdentify and grow opportunities by understanding site-level maintenance needs, spend, and reliability challengesApply engineering and technical knowledge to evaluate customer applications, review component requirements and specifications, and recommend the right solutionsPromote MISUMI Americas Factory Automation solutions to improve uptime, reduce total cost, and increase overall shareProvide customer feedback to internal teams to support MRO product, service, and inventory program developmentCreate and deliver presentations, proposals, and account plans for customer stakeholders and internal leadershipApply consultative selling strategies to expand MRO revenueSupport sales forecasting, pipeline management, and KPI trackingLead negotiations and manage implementation of programs and agreementsCollaborate cross-functionally to support account execution and ongoing customer needsSupport on-site account development and relationship buildingAll employees are expected to maintain and contribute to the QMSDesired TraitsRequired: 1–3 years of experience in MRO, industrial sales, business development, or application engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environmentTechnical aptitude to understand mechanical components, automation equipment, and engineering drawings or specifications, and to discuss them credibly with maintenance and engineering teamsStrong consultative selling and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify maintenance, reliability, and operational improvement opportunitiesExcellent interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-management skills across maintenance, operations, procurement, and leadership teamsResults-driven mindset with demonstrated success growing accounts, expanding share of wallet, and developing long-term customer programsStrong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present value-based solutions and business casesProficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and PowerPointSelf-motivated, accountable, and able to work independently while collaborating cross-functionallyAbility and willingness to travel (minimum of 30%)Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent technical experienceWorking knowledge of industrial products, supply-chain processes, and inventory or vending solutionsPrior experience as an application, sales, maintenance/reliability, or manufacturing engineerFamiliarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) or configurable mechanical component catalogsPhysical DemandsOnsite visit to manufacturing plants and warehouses, which may involve walking and standing for extended periods and exposure to noise, temperature changes, and operating equipmentAbility to follow customer site safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwearAbility to travel by car and air to customer sites within the assigned territoryOffice or remote work that involves extended periods of computer and phone useSalary Range: $77,000 to $88,000 per yearInterested in learning more?
