Contract job opportunity with potential for permanent hire

Location: Albany, NY and surrounding area

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm, alternating Saturdays 7am-10am

Projected duration: 3 months + potential for perm

Benefits are available

Float position. Candidates may travel to various sites and work 8-hour shifts between 6:30am-5:30pm, with 5-hour shifts every two weeks on Saturdays from 7am-1pm

Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation

Mileage expenses paid

Summary

The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist with various assigned tasks, troubleshoot, provide training, and make recommendations for workflow improvements.

Position Responsibilities

Experience with blood draws, specimen labeling, sample centrifugation, recording maintenance data, patient information updates, etc.

Collects and stores specimens following established procedures

Explains venipuncture and other specimen collection processes in a clear and courteous manner

Demonstrates proper techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles, matches requisition forms to specimen tubes, labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens

Checks test requisitions against script, packages specimens for transport and stores them correctly

Adheres to OSHA and DEP regulations, attends department trainings, answers calls and reads lab results to address inquiries

Minimum Qualifications

Valid Phlebotomy certification as required by the state of employment

Minimum of 6 months’ experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

High School Diploma or GED
