Dialysis Registered Nurse

The Dialysis Registered Nurse plays an essential role in helping Veterans manage complex kidney disease while receiving safe, coordinated, and compassionate care. As part of the Hot Springs dialysis team, you will develop specialized expertise in hemodialysis while building meaningful relationships with Veterans who require ongoing treatment and support. This position offers the opportunity to serve as a primary nursing resource, guide patients through the health care system, collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, and contribute to continuity of care for Veterans with end-stage renal disease, acute kidney injury, and advanced chronic kidney disease.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Deliver safe hemodialysis treatments, including machine start-up, programming, ongoing treatment monitoring, and treatment completion.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for Veterans with end-stage renal disease, acute kidney injury, and advanced chronic kidney disease.
• Serve as the primary nurse for an assigned panel of dialysis patients, supporting continuity and coordination of care throughout treatment.
• Educate Veterans, families, and caregivers about kidney disease, dialysis treatment, self-management, and ongoing care needs.
• Monitor patient responses and treatment outcomes, identify changes in condition, and communicate ongoing care needs to the interdisciplinary team.
• Collaborate with providers and other disciplines to coordinate care, support treatment goals, and help Veterans navigate complex health care services.
• Manage and monitor dialysis vascular access, including arteriovenous fistulas, grafts, and tunneled or non-tunneled dialysis catheters.
• Apply infection prevention and disinfection practices while maintaining accurate clinical documentation and dialysis treatment records.
