We are seeking an Associate Director, International Retail Sales to join our growing retail sales team. rhode is expanding its presence with major retail partners globally. Reporting directly to the Head of International Sales, this role will play a critical role in shaping and driving our international retail strategy, accelerating sales performance, and ensuring our approach to growth is both commercially impactful and financially viable.

This individual will bring strong international retail expertise, commercial acumen, and a strategic point of view to the business. Beyond executing against plans, they will be expected to evaluate opportunities, challenge thinking when appropriate, and make informed recommendations based on sales performance, market dynamics, retailer needs, and financial considerations.

• International Retail Strategy:  Develop and execute international retail sales strategies that drive sustainable growth, balancing brand objectives, retailer opportunities, market dynamics, and commercial viability.

• Commercial & Financial Leadership: Evaluate retail opportunities through a commercial and financial lens, assessing sales potential, investment requirements, profitability, and overall viability to inform strategic recommendations and decision-making. 

• Retailer Relationship Management: Serve as a strategic partner and key point of contact for international retail partners, building strong relationships, identifying opportunities, navigating challenges, and negotiating to drive mutually beneficial outcomes.

• Sales Planning & Performance: Own international retail sales performance and translate broader business targets into actionable regional strategies and goals. Monitor performance against plan and proactively identify opportunities, risks, and necessary course corrections.

• Sales & Performance Analysis: Analyze sales performance and key retail KPIs to understand business drivers, identify trends, and translate data into clear recommendations for future strategy, investment, and execution. Strategic Decision-Making: Bring a strong point of view and subject-matter expertise to business discussions. Ask the right questions, challenge assumptions when appropriate, and ensure decisions are grounded in commercial realities, data, and international retail expertise.

• Retail Marketing & Merchandising Collaboration: Partner closely with retail marketing, visual merchandising, creative, and regional teams to ensure cohesive brand storytelling and impactful retail execution that is relevant and appropriately adapted for local markets.

• Retail Channel & Promotional Strategy: Develop and oversee regional retail channel and promotional calendars across new launches, core programs, programs, sampling, store openings, animations/exposures, co-op programs, and other key retail moments.

• Market & Competitive Insights: Maintain a strong understanding of international retail landscapes, consumer behavior, competitive activity, and emerging market trends, translating insights into opportunities and recommendations for the business.

• Budget & Investment Management : Oversee budgets and investments associated with driving international retail sales, including visual merchandising, sampling, and key retail programs. Evaluate spend against expected business impact and ensure resources are allocated effectively.

• Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner closely with Product Marketing, Creative, Marketing, Planning, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment across forecasts, product launches, inventory, promotional plans, and international retail execution

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

• 7+ years of progressive experience in retail sales, international sales, beauty, or a related consumer industry, with meaningful experience managing major retail partnerships.

• Strong understanding of international retail markets, particularly the UK and Australia;

• Must have experience working with Sephora 

• Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.

• Experience operating within a high-growth, fast-paced consumer or beauty environment 

• Demonstrated track record of driving sales growth and developing successful retail strategies across international markets.

• Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience evaluating sales performance, forecasts, budgets, investments, and business opportunities.

• Proven ability to develop strategic recommendations and influence decision-making across senior internal and external stakeholders.

• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, with particular strength in Excel/Sheets and PowerPoint/Slides.

• Hybrid Model: 3+ days a week in the office 
• Reports to : VP, Head of International Retail Sales 
• Budgeted Salary Range: $130K-$160K

The base salary range for this role is listed above.

Total compensation includes base salary, annual company-based performance bonus, and equity. Under e.l.f.’s annual bonus program, employees are eligible to earn up to 200% of their target bonus when company performance exceeds defined goals. In addition, e.l.f. provides a variety of other benefits to employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a retirement savings plan, gender neutral parental leave, and unlimited paid time off. The amount of total compensation (including base salary) offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including geographic location, experience, specific skills, and qualifications.
