PSYCHIATRIC TECHNICIAN II/CORRECTIONAL HEALTH

Job Overview Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) seeks a Psychiatric Technician II for Correctional Health Services, providing mental health care to the jail population. Responsibilities Assist professional staff in delivering mental health services and patient care to clients who are mentally ill or emotionally disturbed. Perform direct and indirect patient care, including personal hygiene, monitoring vital signs, and administering prescribed medications. Implement de-escalation procedures and aid or restrain clients to prevent injury. Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and reports for professional staff. Participate in multidisciplinary team conferences and collaborate with staff to develop and manage effective treatment plans. Serve as a mental health service gatekeeper, triage calls, and coordinate dispatch of mobile response teams as needed. Coordinate activities of the Psychiatric Mobile Response Team and Clinical Behavioral Management Response Team, including staff coverage and liaison with law enforcement. Minimum Requirements One year of experience assisting mental health professionals as a Psychiatric Technician I level, or One year of experience assisting medical professionals in inpatient medical services with troubled, disruptive, or violence-prone clients at the Psychiatric Technician I level. Valid California State license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician. Active and unrestricted license(s) or certification(s). Valid California Class C Driver License required for some positions. Physical Class Class 4 – Arduous: frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds with bending, twisting, and occasional extraordinary physical activity.
