Job Overview Human Resources Generalist – Confidential position supporting the Office of Human Resources at the College of the Desert. The role is supervised by the Executive Director of Human Resources & Labor Relations. Responsibilities Assist the Executive Director with a wide variety of Human Resources functions and systems. Facilitate communications and coordinate activities among staff, the public, and other personnel. Work confidentially with discretion concerning personnel and disciplinary procedures, collective bargaining, and other union matters. Manage the entire lifecycle of the recruitment process: advertising, screening applicant pools, communicating with search committees, scheduling interviews, and compiling data for reports. Conduct onboarding functions for new employees. Advise students, employees, and the public on Human Resources information; provide in-person or telephone support as needed. Review documents and records for accuracy and compliance, compose correspondence, and maintain personnel files. Monitor budget expenditures, prepare requisitions, and maintain financial records. Serve as the District contact for Live Scan Fingerprinting Services and tuberculosis testing. Maintain current documents and information on District websites (employment opportunities, forms, etc.). Process new employee entries into the database and payroll system. Disseminate employee benefits information and assist with enrollment. Arrange and support meetings and committees, including minutes transcription. Assist with distribution of performance evaluations and monitor completion timelines. Manage multiple projects efficiently to meet schedules and deadlines. Pursue professional development activities and operate office equipment and HRIS software. Minimum Qualifications High school graduation or equivalent. At least 3 years of administrative experience in a Human Resources environment. Knowledge and Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of Human Resources functions, district policies, state and federal laws, and modern office practices. Proficiency with HRIS, accounting programs, Microsoft Office, and database management. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse populations. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, operate independently, and exercise discretion with sensitive information. Employment Status Classified Confidential – Classified Leadership Salary Range 3. Salary placement contingent on education, experience, and department budget. This posting is for a substitute/WOOC temporary position. Working Conditions Office environment with frequent interruptions. Schedule & Location 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Primary location: Palm Desert Campus. Schedule and location may change based on district needs.
