Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical/Step-Down RN – North Carolina

Start Date: March 27, 2026
Location: Asheville, North Carolina

Schedule: Every other weekend, no call, holiday rotation required

Highlights:

• Fast-paced Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit focused on ED decompression and enhanced patient throughput
• Mixed patient population: 1:5 Step-Down and 1:6 Med-Surg ratios, combined unit 1:5 day and night
• 40-bed unit utilizing Cerner EMR and Baxter IV pumps in a Level II trauma and comprehensive stroke center
• Opportunity for additional roles: CMU Telemetry monitoring and ED Transport positions
• Magnet-designated facility recognized as top 1% nationally by Healthgrades (2020-2023) and awarded Leapfrog "A" Safety Grade
• Many travel nurses request extensions, with some staying for several years

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina RN license (or compact state)
• Minimum 2 years recent Medical-Surgical, Telemetry (remote), and Step-Down (PCU) experience preferred
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Willingness to float to other units within skill set
• Positive attitude with strong teamwork focus for fast-paced, quick-turnover environment
• Charge Nurse experience or willingness to serve in charge capacity appreciated
