Outside Sales Representative – Door-to-Door

Capital Trimlight Austin is hiring door-to-door outside sales representatives to help grow our permanent exterior lighting business throughout the Austin area.

This is an independent-contractor, commission-only sales opportunity. There is no hourly wage or guaranteed salary.

About the Product

Trimlight is a permanent exterior lighting system that is professionally installed and nearly invisible during the day. Homeowners control the system from their phone and can use it year-round for Christmas, architectural accent lighting, security, game days, birthdays and other special occasions.

It is a highly visual product that is easy for homeowners to understand. Once a home is installed, it becomes a permanent demonstration that can generate additional sales throughout the surrounding neighborhood.

Compensation

• Starting commission: 10% of collected sales revenue
• Average project: approximately $4,500
• Average commission: approximately $450 per sale
• Larger projects can reach $10,000–$25,000+
• A $25,000 project produces a $2,500 commission
• Commission increases available based on consistent production
• Additional production bonuses available
• No cap on earnings
• Commissions are paid after installation and collection of customer payment

Estimated Earnings

Based on our average $4,500 project:

• Two average sales per week = approximately $900
• Three average sales per week = approximately $1,350
• Five average sales per week = approximately $2,250
• One $10,000 project = approximately $1,000
• One $25,000 project = approximately $2,500

The advertised annual compensation range is an estimate based on sales production and is not a guaranteed salary. Actual earnings depend on individual performance, project size, cancellations and collected revenue.

Responsibilities

• Canvass targeted residential neighborhoods
• Initiate conversations with homeowners
• Introduce and demonstrate the Trimlight system
• Identify qualified prospective customers
• Schedule and conduct homeowner consultations
• Prepare estimates with company support
• Follow up consistently with prospective customers
• Close residential lighting projects
• Canvass around completed installations to generate neighborhood sales
• Accurately track prospects, appointments, estimates and closed sales

Preferred Experience

We are especially interested in applicants with experience in:

• Pest-control or summer sales
• Solar
• Roofing
• Home security
• Windows, siding or other home improvements
• Telecommunications
• Door-to-door canvassing
• In-home sales and closing

Previous door-to-door experience is preferred but not required. We will consider applicants who are confident, competitive, dependable, coachable and willing to prospect consistently.

• Availability during afternoons, evenings and Saturdays when homeowners are home

• Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule

This is not an inside-sales or company-lead-only position. Successful representatives must be willing to prospect and create their own opportunities.

Sales Leadership Opportunity

This position begins as an individual sales-producing role. For the right candidate who demonstrates consistent production, reliability and strong leadership ability, there is a genuine opportunity to advance into a Sales Lead or Sales Manager position.

That position could eventually include recruiting and training representatives, managing appointment setters, establishing sales processes, tracking team performance and leading Capital Trimlight Austin’s overall sales operation.
