Betsy is growing and learning and we feel it's time for some additional leadership in the kitchen. This isn't every other chef job. Probably. I always say we don't have management, we have leadership. If that makes your ears prick up, keep reading.

We're looking for someone patient and humble with a passion for farming, ingredients, regenerative agriculture, hospitality, people, and leadership. The job is to oversee Betsy and Bar Betsy and to give the squeaky wheel the grease. They're next door to each other. And there's help!

We have an executive chef called Paul. He's a savant with organization, systems, operations, ordering, and logistics. He's also a damn good cook. We're growing up and opening another restaurant and he's going to be sort of the director of both places, so each restaurant will have a chef. That's the good news.

You don't have to set up order guides and a bunch of systems that no one ever actually does, except that Paul did.

You have to motivate and encourage a team to keep doing what they're doing.

We don't believe in management, we're all in leadership and we're aspiring to do better and be better. Egos are small, although if you work the grill station 5 nights a week, you've earned some swagger. We're proud of the work we do and try to do it better every day. Paperwork is minimal, although it could be an hour or two a week of computer time. The job is to listen, learn, lead, and make the team, and subsequently, the restaurant better. We have a style of cooking. If you are looking to bring nordic preservation cuisine to our wood fired kitchen, maybe our vibrations are not in sync. If you like lighting incredible ingredients on fire, seasoning them aggressively, and making nice looking plates out of that, well now you're on the trolley. It's a full time job and I think it pays pretty good. There are six figures in the salary and we believe in paying our people as well as we can. We strive for a work life balance, although some weeks are longer than others. Some weeks are short, too.
