ABOUT THE ROLE The Full-Time Outreach Coordinator serves as a primary mentor and point of contact for youth and families within the Beacon and school community, providing engagement, support, encouragement, and guidance. Working within Commonpoint’s holistic, strengths-based, and family-centered approach, the Outreach Coordinator builds meaningful relationships with youth and families, with a particular focus on hard-to-reach and disengaged youth and students experiencing chronic absenteeism. The position plays a lead role in supporting students’ academic, social-emotional, and overall well-being while coordinating the delivery of student and family support services. The Outreach Coordinator provides individual and group support, monitors student attendance and progress, facilitates workshops and enrichment activities, conducts student and family outreach, and connects families to appropriate school, agency, and community resources. The role also strengthens community ties by developing an understanding of neighborhood dynamics, fostering relationships with community partners, supporting conflict resolution, and creating collaborative strategies that promote positive outcomes for youth and families. As a key collaborator between Commonpoint and the school community, the Outreach Coordinator works closely with school leadership, teachers, support staff, mental health professionals, families, and community-based partners to coordinate services, strengthen referrals, and address attendance, academic, behavioral, social emotional, and family needs. The Outreach Coordinator participates in interdisciplinary meetings and contributes to a coordinated, student-centered approach to supporting student success. In addition to direct service responsibilities, the Outreach Coordinator provides day-to-day guidance and oversight to Part-Time staff and helps ensure that programming and services are responsive to the needs of students, families, and the broader community. Across the agency, Coordinators are responsible for supporting effective program operations, ensuring compliance with funder and agency requirements, and helping translate program goals into daily practice through collaboration, organization, and accountability. This role reports directly to the Beacon Program Director. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Agency Expectations:Support agency initiatives by carrying out assigned duties accurately and efficiently, while following established processes and contributing to basic data collection, reporting, or documentation as required.Use agency resources responsibly by following established procedures, safeguarding equipment and materials, and/or supporting cost-effective operations.Work effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and cross-department teams to ensure clear communication, timely task completion, and a positive, respectful work environment.Follow all safety protocols, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for staff, partners, and the public, and promptly report concerns or incidents. Role Expectations: Youth Supervision & Development:Supervise & Support: Provide active supervision of students from Kindergarten through Eighth grade, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging program environment.Program Facilitation: Plan and facilitate engaging educational, recreational, and enrichment activities aligned with the program schedule and site plan.Positive Youth Development: Model respectful behavior, reinforce program expectations, and use positive behavior management strategies to support student success.Guide Transitions: Safely supervise and support students as they transition between activities, maintaining structure and engagement throughout the program. Program Quality, Participant Support & Collaboration:Team Collaboration: Work with program staff to ensure consistent implementation of high-quality daily programming and operations.Social-Emotional Learning: Incorporate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into daily programming through check-ins, reflection activities, positive behavior modeling, and relationship building. Elevate participant concerns appropriately and collaborate with supervisors and relevant staff to identify appropriate supports.Inclusive Practice: Adapt activities, materials, and approaches to ensure that youth of all abilities, including participants with IEPs and disabilities, can participate safely, meaningfully, and fully in program activities.Content Area Support: Support programming across key focus areas, including SEL, Health & Wellness, and College & Career Readiness, as outlined in the site plan.Continuous Improvement: Assist with participant surveys and other data-collection efforts, and use feedback and program data to support continuous quality improvement.Student Engagement & Goal Setting: Build rapport with program participants and support them in identifying educational, behavioral, academic, career, and personal goals and developing plans for future success.Student Support & Case Management: Recruit students, conduct intake assessments and interviews, and monitor participant attendance, academic progress, career development, and progress across assigned service areas, including guidance and counseling, academic support, life skills, and work readiness.Counseling & Referrals: Provide individual and group support and counseling, as appropriate, and connect participants and families to relevant school, agency, and community resources.Attendance Outreach: Conduct daily attendance outreach and follow-up with students and families.Family Engagement: Plan and facilitate parent and family workshops and other engagement opportunities that support participant, family, and community needs.Collaboration & Professional Development: Work as part of a collaborative team and actively participate in staff meetings, contractor meetings, interdisciplinary meetings, and staff development opportunities to support student progress and program quality. Success Mentoring Responsibilities:Provide consistent one-on-one and small-group mentoring to identified students.Build positive, trusting relationships that support student attendance, academic progress, social-emotional well-being, and school engagement.Monitor after-school attendance and progress and conduct timely outreach to students and families, as needed.Identify barriers to student success and connect students and families with appropriate school, agency, and community resources.Collaborate with school staff, the Beacon team, and other relevant partners to coordinate and strengthen student support.Maintain accurate, timely mentoring documentation and actively participate in student support and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate. Compliance & Professionalism:Safety & Compliance: Follow Commonpoint and SACC policies and procedures related to active supervision, attendance, transitions, participant safety, mandated reporting, behavior management, and incident documentation.Professionalism & Confidentiality: Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of participants and families by adhering to agency policies regarding confidentiality, photography, video recordings, personal devices, and social media. Do not take, share, or post program-related photos, videos, or information without appropriate agency authorization.Program Administration: Complete and maintain accurate attendance records, communicate participant concerns to supervisors promptly, and assist with incident reports and other required documentation. Staff Supervision & Leadership:Day-to-Day Supervision: Provide day-to-day guidance, support, and oversight to Part-Time staff to ensure responsibilities are carried out effectively and programming is implemented as planned.Staff Support & Development: Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to Part-Time staff to strengthen performance, build capacity, and promote professional growth.Performance & Accountability: Monitor staff performance, attendance, professionalism, and completion of assigned responsibilities; provide ongoing feedback; and elevate concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Participate in performance management and evaluation processes, as delegated by the Program Director or Assistant Director.Program Implementation: Support and monitor staff in implementing high-quality, engaging, and inclusive programming that aligns with program goals, site plans, and agency expectations.Communication & Coordination: Maintain clear, consistent communication with Part-Time staff on schedules, responsibilities, participant needs, program updates, and expectations.Training & Onboarding: Support the onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training of Part-Time staff to ensure they understand program policies, procedures, safety expectations, and their individual responsibilities.Team Leadership: Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture that promotes professionalism, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to participant success. QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Child Development, Psychology, Public Administration, Recreation, or a related field required.Minimum three (3) years of experience working in youth development or afterschool programming.Experience managing staff, compliance, community partnerships, and program operations.Strong leadership, organizational, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and data management systems. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Master's Degree preferred.Previous experience in a Commonpoint role is a plus.Bilingual skills are welcome. WORKING CONDITIONS & JOB DETAILS: WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in a school or office setting, with regular activities conducted in classrooms, gyms, cafeterias, outdoor spaces, and other program environments as needed.Position may require exposure to varying environmental conditions, including outdoor weather, loud noise, and other conditions associated with school-age and community-based programming.Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and use a computer and other office equipment for extended periods throughout the workday.Must be able to lift and carry materials, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, with occasional assistance for heavier items as needed.Requires flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and extended hours to support program operations, special events, training, family engagement activities, and agency initiatives.Travel between program sites, schools, agency locations, and community events may be required based on program, operational, and funding needs.
