Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Active special education teaching certification in Connecticut, or eligible for certification.
- Experience or strong interest in supporting students with individualized education plans.
- For one position: background or training in reading intervention programs such as SPIRE, WILSON, or Orton-Gillingham is highly valued.
- Flexibility to adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs in grades 6–8.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with a collaborative spirit.
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction in English Language Arts, Math, and Reading to 6th graders, applying evidence-based interventions.
- Serve as an Academic Assistance teacher for grades 6–8, focusing on executive functioning, goal setting, and supporting core subjects in a supportive, resource-like setting.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) to ensure student success.
- Work closely with fellow educators, support staff, and families to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain detailed records and consistently track progress to inform instruction.
