Wheeler Law PLLC is seeking an experienced Senior Associate Family Law Attorney to help lead and grow our expanding Family Law practice.

This isn't a traditional law firm leadership role. We're looking for someone who is excited about mentorship, technology, innovation, and finding better ways to practice law. Someone who sees an inefficient process and asks, "Why are we doing it this way?"

Most importantly, we're looking for an excellent attorney and leader who wants to help build something—without having to carry the entire business on their back.

The Role

As a Senior Associate Family Law Attorney, you will:

• Manage a caseload of family law matters.

• Provide strategic guidance on complex cases and litigation.

• Mentor junior attorneys and legal paraprofessionals.

• Review pleadings, motions, discovery, and substantive work product.

• Assist with hiring, training, and development of the family law team.

• Help improve systems, workflows, efficiency, and client experience.

• Work with firm leadership to shape the growth and direction of the department.

What You Won't Have to Do

You won't have to build the business from scratch, manage payroll, handle every administrative issue, or spend your evenings worrying about whether the firm's bills got paid.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $130,000–$180,000 , commensurate with experience, plus competitive performance-based compensation.

• Full-time, Monday through Friday, with a hybrid schedule available .

This keeps the strongest part of the original—the pitch to solos and experienced attorneys who are burned out by the business side of practice —but gets to the actual job much faster.

Compensation:

$130,000 - $180,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

• Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed
• Assist clients effectively by understanding their needs analyzing the situation then strategizing and deciding on a proper course of action
• Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases
• Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients
• Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date

• Active license to practice law in Arizona and membership in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona.
• Minimum of three (3) years of Arizona family law experience, including litigation.
• Strong knowledge of the Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedure, Arizona Revised Statutes, and local court rules.
• Experience managing a family law caseload independently from initial consultation through resolution.
• Excellent legal writing, oral advocacy, negotiation, and courtroom skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Exceptional client service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Spanish language proficiency is preferred, but not required.

Qualifications:

• 4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position
• Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants
• Active membership with the ABA (American Bar Association)
• Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years; handling of real estate also required
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations

• Active Member of the Arizona State Bar.
• At least 3+ years of experience working in a law firm on family law issues.
