Job Summary Fish Center for Women’s Health Primary Care, located in the BWH Health Center at Chestnut Hill, MA, offers integrated primary care services featuring specialties such as cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, gynecology, hematology, infectious diseases, mental health, neurology, nutrition, pulmonology, renal medicine, rheumatology, and sleep medicine. Position: Full‑time, 40 hours per week (Day shift). Core role: RN Nurse Manager within Primary Care. Essential Functions Ensure development, implementation, and evaluation of staff onboarding, training, and education. Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback for staff. Maintain a positive work environment that is safe for patients, visitors, and staff. Coordinate unit activities with other hospital departments. Develop and implement staffing plans. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and standards. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Lead coordination and expediting of clinical operations, directing and monitoring quality of care delivered by the healthcare team. Function within and across interdisciplinary teams to promote coordination, mutual respect, and timely response to patients’ needs. Recognize impact of systems on care delivery and facilitate development of workflows and pathways that ensure coordination across all settings, with particular attention to transitional needs. Facilitate huddles, promote respectful communication, and utilize critical thinking to problem‑solve and make decisions. Identify and evaluate operational clinical needs and resolve concerns early. Role‑model and facilitate change within the team to respond to emerging practice and organizational needs. Foster and implement innovative thinking to create alternative solutions. Manage all resources to support optimal care of patients seeking primary care services in the clinic, via telehealth and other emerging delivery models. Model and promote healthcare team building and leadership skills, applying leadership skills to facilitate effective team functioning and operations of the department. Develop collaborative relationships across roles and departments to ensure timely access to patient needs. Occasionally participate on committees or broader organizational initiatives as required. Provide clinical oversight and support to nursing staff and medical assistants in collaboration with the Medical Director and Practice Manager. Manage changes in nurse/MA staffing schedule and adjust resources to meet patient care and operational needs. Authorize hours worked by nursing staff and medical assistants, including overtime, and serve as the direct recipient of sick and tardy calls for clinical staff. Assume accountability for evaluation of performance of RNs, LPNs, and Medical Assistants under delegation/direction. Participate in selection, supervision, and mentorship of new staff, assisting with orientation and staff development needs. Collaborate with nursing and practice leadership in setting quality standards and developing relevant policies and procedures. Analyze, synthesize, and apply data to drive optimal care delivery outcomes. Provide oversight for TJC readiness and quality programs. Deliver evidence‑based, culturally sensitive nursing care and perform all clinical tasks permissible under licensure and institutional policy. Demonstrate technological literacy in using computerized information systems. Access, evaluate, and use data and information from a wide range of resources. Demonstrate effective use of computer‑based information and practice management systems for population health management, decision support, reports, continuous quality improvement, and professional development. Provide input to development of information systems that impact patient care, and facilitate staff use of health‑care technologies. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted. Licenses and Credentials Registered Nurse in Massachusetts required. Certification required at start or within 2 years of start date; Ambulatory / ANCC certification preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate preferred. Experience 2–3 years of nursing experience required. 1–2 years of nursing leadership experience preferred. Primary Care or ambulatory experience in a clinical nursing or leadership position preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Strong commitment to clinical excellence. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is provided.
