CNC Programmer
The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs to support high-quality machining operations. This role works closely with machinists, engineers, and production teams to ensure parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and to customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and modify CNC programs for mills, lathes, and/or Swiss machines
- Use Mastercam, G-code, or other CAM software to generate toolpaths
- Set up machines or support setup teams with tooling, offsets, and process instructions
- Optimize cycle times, tooling strategies, and machining processes
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical drawings
- Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust programs as needed
- Ensure all parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams
- Maintain organized program files and documentation
Minimum Education Required
High School Diploma
Minimum Experience Required
Experience programming CNC machines (mill/lathe/Swiss depending on shop)
Strong knowledge of Mastercam or similar CAM software
Solid understanding of tooling, feeds/speeds, and machining principles
Ability to read blueprints and GD&T
Problem-solving mindset and high attention to detail
Experience with setup or machining is a plus
