About the Role

In this specialized precision machining role, you will operate a manual Bullard lathe to custom-fabricate cylinders used for rail cars and barge cars. What You Will Do

• Manual Machining: Set up and operate a manual Bullard lathe to turn and finish custom heavy-duty cylinders for rail and barge transportation equipment.
• Precision Measuring: Use micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring tools to check part dimensions against strict tolerance specifications.
• Material Setup: Safely secure, position, and align heavy metal stock and workpieces onto the lathe table or chuck.
• Machining Maintenance: Monitor tool wear, adjust cutting feeds and speeds, and apply coolants or lubricants during the machining process.
• Cross-Training & Support: Learn and support other production equipment and mechanical assembly processes across the shop as trained.
• Quality & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized machine cell and strictly follow all facility safety standards and PPE requirements.

What You Need

• Machining Experience: At least 1 year of manual lathe machining experience strictly required (Note: CNC-only experience does not qualify for this position).
• Measuring Skills: Proven experience reading micrometers, calipers, and precision gauges preferred.
• Technical Aptitude: Ability to read shop prints, understand tolerances, and perform basic math calculations.
• Reliability: Strong work ethic, sharp attention to detail, daily punctuality, and reliable transportation to Hazelwood, MO 63042.
• Screening: Willingness to complete standard pre-employment background checks and screenings.
