Job Title: RN PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pulmonary/GI Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration Medication administration experience including cardiac drips (no titration) Experience with respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management Knowledge of rapid response/code teams and isolation precautions Description: The position requires working in a Pulmonary/GI PCU. Shifts are scheduled as 3x12 hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM. Charting is done using Epic, and prior experience with this system is required. The unit serves adult and geriatric patients with a daily census of 27. The staffing ratio is 1 nurse for every 5 patients. The unit does not have ventilator beds and may work without CNA support. Travelers may have the opportunity to float within their skillset. Holiday coverage is required for one holiday during the 13-week contract. All requests for time off must be submitted with the application. Compliance documents are due the Wednesday prior to the start of the assignment. This role involves collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and other support staff. Experience with special procedures and unit specific equipment is preferred.
